About Us
The Orlando Community Kollel is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization that was created in August 2023 by Rabbi Yomtov Goldberger. It is comprised of six high level Talmudic scholars, graduates of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, who devote their lives to the study, preservation, and dissemination of Torah Judaism. They spend most of their day engaged in in-depth study of the Talmud and also learn with a broad spectrum of the Orlando Jewish community through one-on-one study and various Shiurim/lectures.
Our Mission
The Kollel has a two-fold mission. It aims to develop the scholars by continuing their high level learning they are accustomed to in their Yeshiva years, and also giving them many Harbotzas Torah opportunities on a broader scale. The Kollel also seeks to enhance and enrich the greater Orlando Jewish community, by creating an anchor of Torah study, that can inspire and reach every Jew.
Our Launch
In the first few months alone, the Kollel has already touched the lives of over 50 men and boys through Chavrusa learning and Shiurim. They are generously hosted by the Orlando Torah Center and work together on trying to reach the community in a positive and synergistic fashion.
Meet the Rosh Kollel
Rabbi Yomtov Goldberger
Rabbi Yomtov Goldberger, together with the BMG placement team, founded the Orlando Community Kollel in 2023. Originally from Atlanta, Rabbi Goldberger learned in Yeshivas Ner Yisroel, Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia, and Yeshivas Ner Moshe in Yerushalayim. He and his wife, Ahuva (nee Neuberger) originally from Baltimore, lived in Lakewood for 13 years, where Rabbi Goldberger spent his time studying in Beth Medrash Gevoha. In 2016, Rabbi Goldberger accepted the position of Rosh Chaburah where he guided hundreds of Bouchrim and Avreichem through virtually every Masechta in the Yeshivish Machzor. Rabbi Goldberger brings with him a deep appreciation and understanding of community Kollel activity from his upbringing as part of the Atlanta Kollel. This, coupled with his advanced scholarship attained at Beth Medrash Gevoha give him a unique blend that enables him to serve both the yungerliet of the Kollel and the community at large. Mrs. Goldberger is a devoted mother to their children (proud students at Orlando Torah Academy) and a software engineer on the side.
